Zn-al-mg Steel Coil is a new type of highly corrosion-resistant coated steel coil. Its galvanized layer is mainly composed of zinc, plus 11% aluminum, 3% magnesium and trace amounts of silicon.
Due to the composite effect of these added elements, the corrosion inhibition effect of zinc-aluminum-magnesium coils is further improved. In addition, it has excellent processing performance under severe conditions (stretching, stamping, bending, paint welding, etc.), high hardness of the coating, and excellent damage resistance. Compared with ordinary galvanized and galvalume products, the plating coating has less adhesion but can achieve greater corrosion resistance. Due to this corrosion resistance, it can be used instead of stainless steel or aluminum in some fields.
According to the different Al composition content, zinc-aluminum-magnesium coatings are divided into three types: "low aluminum", "medium aluminum" and "high aluminum" zinc-aluminum-magnesium: Intermetallic compound layer growth kinetics of different types of zinc-aluminum-magnesium coatings. In order to control the thickness of the coating, the immersion time, temperature and molten pool composition should be reasonably controlled. There are also differences in the solidification structure. When surface corrosion occurs, the MgZn2 phase in "low aluminum" and "medium aluminum" ionizes first and generates alkali. Dense corrosion products such as alkaline zinc salts and double-layer hydroxides can inhibit corrosion; when trimming corrosion occurs, zinc, aluminum, and magnesium will self-repair and form alkaline zinc salts at the damaged areas of the trimmed steel base or coating to protect the matrix.
